Film scores all sound the same now; generic and forgettable.  In this class I’m going to teach you how to choose a unique harmonic language and instrumentation for your scores so you can stand out from the crowd.  We’ll cover every major genre.  Next, we’ll address another devolution in film scoring – cues constantly having to start and stop.  This is due to the ideas/motifs being weak and composers having no idea how to extend and develop a cue across multiple shots – especially in scenes where the action and locations change frequently.  We’ll look at examples from recent films and I’ll show you how to solve them.  It’s like two classes in one, and both of them are essential.
